About Enso Theatre Ensemble

Enso Theatre Ensemble was founded in 2015 as a theatre of wellness. We believe that the best art is created in an environment of mindfulness and well-being, and our work seeks to connect artists and audiences to the present and to each other. Inspired by the Zen symbol called the "enso", we seek out a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. Enso is committed to performance work, arts education and wellness programming. Our performances are ensemble-based with an emphasis on innovative, physical storytelling. As educators, we work to engage young people artistically through our Word Elf literacy and storytelling classes for pre-K children and our directing mentorship program for high schoolers. Wellness practices are integrated into every aspect of our work; we reject the 'starving artist' paradigm and are pioneering new rehearsal and creation techniques that help artists to lead sustainable, mindful lives.
