"Sauber und direkt mit Strom zu heizen - das muss doch möglich sein." - dachte sich Peter Reiter bei einem Besuch am Speicherkraftwerk Kaprun. Fasziniert von der Möglichkeit, sauberen Strom aus Wasserkraft zu gewinnen, wurde die Vision geboren, den Fußboden verlustfrei und ohne Heizkessel mittels Strom direkt zu erwärmen und somit ganze Gebäude durch saubere Energie zu beheizen. Aus dieser Idee heraus gründete Peter Reiter 1981 das Unternehmen ETHERMA und verfolgte die nächsten Jahrzehnte konsequent deren Umsetzung. Dem Erfinderreichtum und der Kreativität des Gründers war es zu verdanken, dass in all den Jahren immer wieder neue Produkte entstanden, die bis heute weltweit technische Verwendung finden. Er war ein Vorreiter auf dem Gebiet der elektrischen Flächenheizung - zahlreiche Patente und der Musterschutz vieler Produkte waren die Folge seines Engagements.
