We see a world where digital tools level the playing field for every child. There is a clear and urgent need to support kids who are struggling with learning loss, particularly those kids who are also disadvantaged by poverty. The best digital learning tools - games, apps, e-books, and podcasts - have the power to meet kids where they are, in the unique ways that they learn, and help them to become their best selves. As edtech founders, our own kids benefit from the outstanding work of our colleagues and partners. But most kids are not connected to tools that are relevant to them and most mission-driven content providers struggle to reach a wide audience. Parents and teachers don’t have time to sort through misleading marketing speak, confusing processes, and predatory products. We will help to connect students with best-in-class tools that work best for them, by building the home for apps with impact. It will be a place where parents and teachers can easily uncover a wide range of web-based tools, provided at no cost to those who cannot afford them. This work draws from our research with educators serving students in low-income communities, supported by a National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award. We feel privileged to amplify the work of creative storytellers, passionate makers, and organizations on the front lines of educational equity. We also provide industry-leading analysis, planning and development services. We understand the needs of students, families, and educators, and the challenges of delivering social impact through media, curriculum, and programs. Our decades of expertise and our extensive network span nonprofits, preK-12 and higher education, afterschool programs, children’s media, technology, and entertainment. As a social enterprise, we plan to reinvest the majority of our profits to achieve our social mission.
