About Giró Ribot

GIRÓ RIBOT is a 100% family-owned and operated producer of sparkling wines in the D.O. Cava. The winery is located in Santa Fe del Penedés, in the heart of the Penedés and Cava Region, near Barcelona. The geographic area of the Penedés enjoys a typical mediterranean climate, with mild winters; moderate summers, annual rainfall between 500 and 600 mm and continuous sunshine hours during the ripening period. During the summer predominant sea breezes allow an optimal aeration in our vineyards. The soils in the area provide excellent conditions to the grape growing. Our vineyards extend in clay loamy limestone soils which enable a right drainage and are capable of holding an adequate amount of water. The Giró Ribot family is closely tied to the Penedés region, since previous generations devoted themselves in particular to producing liqueurs and spirits. Giró Ribot has set itself the target of achieving high quality products through a constant improvement and careful production process. Their search of supreme quality together with a strong commitment of the family gives their products a distinctive personality. The GIRÓ RIBOT cavas are all coupage wines, produced mainly from indigenous grape varieties (Macabeo, Xarel.lo, Parellada) along with Chardonnay for our white cavas and Trepat along with Pinot Noir for Rosé cavas, all coming from the vineyards surrounding the property. GIRÓ RIBOT owns 100 hectare vineyard from which approximately 60 ha. area, with most suitable parcels, is reserved for the production of our cavas Giro Ribot and Paul Cheneau. Approximately 20 ha of our estate are destined for the production of white wines. This allows a rigorous control of the whole winemaking process. We are currently in conversion to organic farming.
