About Graduate Students' Association - Carleton University
The Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) offers services, advocacy, and community for over 3,900 graduate students at Carleton University. We work to ensure graduate student representation throughout the university, and advocate at the municipal, provincial and federal levels on issues including affordable education, accessible public transit, research funding, academic freedom, and ending rape culture. Several of these campaigns, as well as lobbying, are done in partnership with other students’ unions across Canada through the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS), a pan-Canadian student union representing over 500,000 students from over 80 universities and colleges. The GSA is administered by 5 part-time executive members (a president and 4 vice-presidents), whom are elected by graduate students each spring for a one-year term. The executive and staff carry out the business of the GSA Council, which is the legislative authority of the GSA and has the final word on all matters.
