About Hackney Doorways
Hackney Doorways is the umbrella charity that operates the Hackney Winter Night Shelters (HWNS). Every year 500 HWNS volunteers in around 20 churches and halls across the borough provide accommodation to the homeless during the coldest months of the year. In addition to HWNS Hackney Doorways works with government to improve services to the homeless, and is planning to establish a rent deposit scheme and a helping and befriending scheme to help our ex-guests remain in their accommodation.
