It has not evolved for the levels of sound exposure we now get from everyday life which is causing permanent hearing damage. Th Who state that by 2050 more than 2.5B people will be at risk of Noise Induced Hearing Loss globally; the biggest single cause being headphone use. More worrying, recent research published in the Lancet shows a strong correlation between hearing loss and cognitive decline. To address this risk new safety standards have been introduced and safety regulations will be updated during 2023 mandating hearing safeguarding features in Europe in the near future, with North America to follow. HearAngel firmware will be available for Qualcomm 5100 series chipsets via the Advantage Network in 2023. For compatibility with other chipsets please get in touch.
