Holy Family Children’s Center is dedicated to inspiring a lifelong love of learning by nurturing creativity and fostering a spirituality of joy and wonder. We honor relationships with one another and celebrate the beauty of the world around us. We focus on creating a dynamic learning environment that is respectful of each child’s unique interests, needs, and emerging abilities. Holy Family Children’s Center is an early childhood program inspired by the extraordinary schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. There is great value placed on the competence, potential and creativity of children. There is also value placed on the relationships between children, parents and teachers. Parents are seen as partners and teachers are co-constructors of knowledge with children. Specifically, we are exploring the ideas… * That each child is unique, capable and competent, has great potential and is eager to learn and express themselves. * That children should be exposed to a variety of materials and experiences that engage their senses. * That play is the optimal way children learn about their world. That nurturing individual relationships with children and families builds a sense of community * That the learning environment should be safe, beautiful, stimulating, full of wonder and reflective of children, families, staff and the community. * That curriculum is child led and teacher guided and emerges from the children’s interests and passions. * That children have the capacity to express themselves through many different “languages.” * That parents are seen as partners and integral to their child’s development * That children develop a positive approach to life-long learning. * That joy and friendship should be the most important elements at school
