About iCon - next generation free-form structures

iCon is an in-house software solution continuously developed to support design in the field of modern architecture. iDesigner is designed as a plugin for CAD software Rhinoceros and contains tools for analysis and creation of geometry of constructions in its static environment as well as in its parametric superstructure Grasshopper. The object-oriented architecture of the program provides great flexibility and unlimited possibilities for further development and application to new tasks. In addition, the Rhino/Grasshopper environment enables two-way integration with third-party applications and design processes. Its development is focused primarily on the requirements of unconventional structural systems such as cable networks, membrane and pneumatic structures, planar and rod shells of various materials. It contains tools for defining the topology of shells, shape design (form-finding) using various methods, preparation of shear (cutting plans) for spatial curved structures, own strength calculations and export to commercial FEM software. It also automates the creation of workshop documentation of individual structural elements to a large extent.
