About Knowledge Foundation

The Knowledge Foundation is a non-profit tax-exempt global education organization headquartered in Lucerne, Switzerland, chartered to advance global education through the application of advanced and emerging technologies such as Knowledge Token® , Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and blockchain. The Knowledge Foundation is responsible for the design, development, deployment and ongoing maintenance of the global Knowledge Token® system and related Open International Standards (OIS) for blockchain technology in the field of education. As an incentive and participation token that is awarded to learners in exchange for intellectual achievements, while privately and securely recording corresponding academic progress, Knowledge Tokens are issued in amounts that correspond to the units or amounts of knowledge, skills and/or credits that learners earn. Knowledge Token® can be considered to be intellectual currency and, as such, may be used to pay for goods and services such as mobile phones, tablets, computers, games, textbooks, tuition and more. Following an inclusive global participatory approach to the design, development and deployment of Knowledge Token®, the Knowledge Foundation adheres to the core principle of being "open to all." In order to achieve its international mandate, the Knowledge Foundation collaborates with leaders in the EdTech industry, international organizations, Universities, research centres and Governments to create an "internet of education" where educators, teachers, learners and students interact with each other and upskill each other while contributing to local economies and globalizing sustainable development.
