About Kreative Lighting Studio

Kreative Lighting Studio is owned by Kristina Barnes, who is also the company’s principal lighting designer. Kristina has a love of all things lighting, and brings her outstanding design skills, passion for innovation, excellent commercial sense and infectious personality into every project she works on. Before beginning her own business, Kristina spent many years enjoying the bright lights and fast-pace of London and Edinburgh. In these two major cities, she worked for a number of major lighting design practices. In these roles, Kristina delivered numerous award-winning lighting projects, and spent many a happy evening at ceremonies to celebrate these successes. Following this high-flying start to her career, Kristina took the plunge and started her own business KLS Lighting Design in 2007. This gave her the opportunity to be more creative, autonomous and bring more of her personality to her work. She worked on a number of high-profile projects during this time, spanning different sectors and both interior and exterior spaces. As the credit-crunch hit, Kristina took the affirmative decision to change her direction and take time out to focus on having children and growing her family. To maintain her involvement in the lighting industry, whilst balancing time with her family, Kristina worked for a number of years in the commercial side of the lighting industry. She worked as a lighting design engineer for local electrical wholesalers in the North East. Kristina loved the opportunity to support regional businesses and experience something new through the commercial side of the business. By 2016, Kristina was ready to dive back into business ownership. Kreative Lighting Studio was born and she hasn’t looked back since. Based in the North East of England, Kristina operates across the whole of the UK and beyond, adding her creative flair to any project she works on. She is proud to give a personal approach to each and every project.
