About Kurdish Human Rights Watch, KHRW
Kurdish Human Rights Watch,(KHRW) is a non-profit, humanitarian organization established in 1989 in the United States. KHRW is one of the 10 national resettlement agencies with a cooperative agreement to provide reception and placement services to refugees in the United States. KHRW assists newcomer communities in achieving self-sufficiency and economic independence. KHRW’s national programs have three main program activities, namely community strengthening, economic development, and resettlement. Each program provides a solid foundation to enable the internally displaced persons in Iraq (IDPs), refugees, asylees, immigrants, the low-income, domestic violence victims, and the homeless to become self-sufficient. KHRW has conducted capacity building and humanitarian services in Iraq. This has ranged from constructing shelters for IDPs in Iraq to protection, human rights promotion, election preparedness and monitoring, civil society and NGO capacity building and training women and democracy initiatives. KHRW has extensive experience building bridges among different ethnic and religious groups in Iraq.
