After learning to crochet at age 21 on one of his regular visits to Trinidad, his parents’ home country, he transformed his newfound art from covering his dreadlocks to weaving together artistic Rastafarian culture and runway material with everyday style and couture. Legin prides himself on his ability to customize each garment for the wearer, with several choices in natural fibres, vibrant colours, and shapes. His artistry incorporates knitting, hand sewing, and silk screen printing. Further, Legin combines crochet with fabric and accessories to take creativity and styling to another level. His quality and passion for fashion in each garment are matched only by his speed and attention to detail. With a warm community of artists and artisans passionate about the art of crochet, Legin Knits has become a tenant in Toronto of the healing aspects of crochet through events such as the Art of Crochet and Jazz.
