About Local Power
Company originated Community Choice Aggregation & Green Bonds. We are a small company that has had a massive impact on the energy industry, inventing some of the most innovative energy structures & programs in the world to transform the traditional utility business model. Co-founder Paul Fenn drafted and helped draft the nation's first Community Choice Aggregation ("CCA") laws allowing communities in 10 states to become energy independent through municipal leadership. As of 2022, over 1800 cities & over 10 percent of Americans, from Marin County, CA to Cape Cod, MA, are served by CCAs. Local Power sets up their program Local Power Inc. was the cofounder of Marin Clean Energy & has designed pathbreaking CCA programs and new variants in California, New York, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Colorado. We also drafted the nation's first financing authority for renewable energy & efficiency measures on homes, businesses and governments - San Francisco's 2001 H Bond Authority (City Charter section 9.107.8) - which was key to both making CCAs deliver an entirely new utility business model, "CCA 2.0," & spawning the tri"solar finance" model in the U.S., from PACE to SolarCity. We are a leading energy engineering, program design, & policy firm hired serving CCAs & municipal utilities design programs, collect and analyze energy & infrastructure data, analyze risk, advise on power procurement, create energy cost & financial models for local build-outs, & present budgets for regional transitions to Distributed Energy Resources - local renewable energy, energy efficiency, microgrids, energy storage, & smart grid. As municipal energy involves politics, we also run successful political campaigns, winning the 2001 San Francisco Solar Bond Authority defeating PG&E's Prop 16 campaign against CCA in 2010. Our co-founder Julia Peters ran Jerry Brown's Oakland Mayoral campaign in 1998, and ran the nation's largest door-to-door canvass for the Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGS).
