About Math Matters

Math Matters is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to help k-12 students build their love and confidence in math. We believe that math is not just about memorizing formulas, but much more about looking for patterns and trying new approaches. Math is a beautiful subject, and the sooner kids understand this the better. Focusing on prioritizing individual attention to every student, we provide 1-on-1 free tutoring to tailor the instruction according to students’ interests, goals, and backgrounds. Our program currently has 100+ tutors from 30+ schools located from the west coast to the east coast. Most tutors are high school students, with some college students joining from Boston University, Creighton University, De Anza College, Irvine Valley College, Harvard, UCLA, and US Air Force Academy. Over the past four years, we have provided free tutoring services to over 400 kids nationwide and have seen tremendous growth in our students’ math skills as well as social communication.
