About MERCI1955
MERCI's unwavering mission is to enhance the lives of adults with developmental disabilities by creating meaningful experiences and fostering connections through community inclusion. The organization's roots trace back to 1955 when a passionate group of parents and service clubs united to address the critical shortage of educational resources for their adult children. Throughout its journey, MERCI has remained committed to serving a vulnerable and often overlooked population. MERCI provides home and community-based services throughout 19 cities in Los Angeles County. MERCI operates two residential homes in Monterey Park, each designed to accommodate six residents. Additionally, MERCI offers three distinct programs, carefully customized to suit individuals of all abilities. Integrated Community-Based Supports (ICBS): *ICBS services are designed to take place within the community. *Participants collaborate with our staff to find success in volunteer and vocational opportunities, enabling them to become valued contributors to their communities. Person-Centered Activities through Supportive Services (PASS) Services: *Delivered on-site at our school in Monterey Park, running from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. *Extended services are also available before and after MERCI's PASS program if needed. *MERCI focuses on nurturing participants' independent living skills and leisure activities while integrating them into community events when possible. Discovery: *Designed for individuals with more substantial medical needs who are unable to attend the PASS or ICBS services. *Services are provided within the individuals' homes, with a continued focus on developing independent living skills, enjoying leisure activities, and ensuring access to community resources.
