Ryan Lewis launched Meta Designs in 1999 with the desire to provide the highest quality, most unique metal work for its clients. A native New Yorker and third-generation craftsman, Lewis apprenticed in an ornamental welding shop for over two years before starting his company. After starting the company Lewis worked as a sushi chef in the evening for the next few years to help build his business. His strong work ethic—and a strong eye for the arts—has helped Lewis understand and respect the processes of design and development required for a finished piece of work. But for Lewis it's not just about the finished product. An artist in his own right, Lewis does a majority of the design, and in the process establishes personal relationships with his clients. He works in conjunction with artists, architects, designers and homeowners to ensure the finished product meets—and often exceeds—clients' expectations. A new project often poses a new design challenge, and that's where Meta Designs excels. Lewis and his team puts forth whatever effort necessary to overcome a challenges and create a solution unique to that project. The company specializes in architectural showcase stair and rail systems but its portfolio includes everything from large gates and full interiors for local restaurants to sculptures and small custom jobs. No matter the project, Lewis makes sure it is done well and finished on time...the first time. To help meet clients' goals, Meta Designs' employs three accomplished craftsmen who pay close attention to the design, detail, fit and finish of everything they produce. Lewis also collaborates with well-known designers like Carrie Snyder, Principal Designer at Avatar Design Group, so the end product is as unique as the company's clients. This high-quality craftsmanship combined with a unique use of materials and cutting-edge design is ensuring Meta Designs' position as a leader in the metal working industry.
