About Mujeres Unidas Avanzando

Mujeres Unidas Avanzando (MUA, formerly Mujeres Unidas en Acción), has been meeting the educational needs of low-income Latina girls and women as well as other English Language Learners (ELLs) for over four decades, helping them build skills for full, self-sufficient lives. MUA’s mission is to provide low-income Latinx and other immigrants the tools needed to empower themselves and effect liberating changes in their lives; those of their families; and society at large. We offer English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes; Hi-SET (formerly GED) preparation in Spanish; job training in computers; Tech Goes Home to connect parents to a laptop for $50 and low-cost internet; an office administration/retail program in conjunction with the Millennium Training Institute; a Home Health Aide (HHA) ,phlebotomy, and Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) program through our partnership with Peak Medical Academy; career, individual, and domestic violence counseling; Family Literacy; one-on-one tutoring provided by volunteers; and onsite preschool childcare that allows mothers with pre-school aged children participate in MUA’s program. All services are free. MUA serves nearly 400 families a year. Together, we strive towards educational growth and professional achievement, to support and unite the Latinx and other immigrant communities across Boston.
