About Nanoscale Components
Nanoscale Components has commissioned the world’s first modular GWh-scale roll-to-roll prelithiation equipment, setting a benchmark for the battery industry and paving the way for broader market adoption. This modular GWh system reduces cost of lithium-ion cell manufacturing while increasing cell energy/cycle life and lowering internal resistance. Our solution is a novel electrochemical prelithiation technology that easily integrates into the cell manufacturing process. Compared to known hazardous Li-metal prelithiation methods, Nanoscale’s breakthrough roll-to-roll process uses a safe, low-cost Li-salt and is designed for GWh-scale. The cost of prelithiation is low enough and the energy gains high enough that the final cell cost/kWh is reduced. The process is effective with a range of anode materials, from pure graphite to the world’s most advanced silicon materials.
