About National Parks Association of NSW

National Parks Association of NSW Inc (NPA) is a non-government conservation group that seeks to protect, connect and restore the integrity and diversity of natural systems in NSW and beyond, through national parks, marine sanctuaries and other means. We run one of the largest bushwalking clubs in Australia, have a network of 18 branches State-wide, hundreds of active volunteers and over 20,000 supporters. NPA has a broad range of activities, programs and publications which attract a diverse range of NSW citizens. Our innovative citizen science program inspires and engages the community leading to greater understanding of environmental issues and how individuals can help. Current GER partnerships assists us to markedly improve pest species control through educating landholders in the designated regions.. Our volunteers make a valuable contribution throughout NSW with many of our engaged volunteers working in regional NSW communities on park restoration, citizen science projects, leading bush-walks and promoting the value and role of our national parks at the local level. NPA is the only peak environmental organisation focusing on national park and protected area issues. Our unique network of regional and metropolitan branches provides opportunities to engage, inspire, lead and educate the community about nature and protected area management. NPA is one of just a few NSW conservation organisations with a significant regional presence which enables us to engage educate and inspire a much more diverse demographic from cities and towns to remote communities. We provide space in our publications and social media for NPWS information including bushfire notices to help the government communicate vital information to the general public. Additionally, NPA is called on to be the lead organisation on national park issues by the broader environmental not for profit sector.
