About NC Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities
The Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD) helps North Carolinians with disabilities achieve their goals for employment and independence. EIPD provides services on programming for vocational rehabilitation, independent living, assistive technology and other resources that support those with disabilities. EIPD also works with businesses statewide to help employers recruit and retain talented candidates with disabilities. EIPD provides training and consultation on disability awareness, workplace accessibility and accommodations, as well as onboarding services that support a more disability-inclusive workforce. Led by Director Kathie B. Smith, with additional oversight by Assistant Secretary for Employment and Inclusion Chris Egan, the Division has over 70 offices located across the state. EIPD is a division of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS).
