About Norwegian Accreditation

Norwegian Accreditation is the national accreditation body of Norway, established by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Fisheries under the authority of the EEA Goods Act. Our main objective is to ensure safe goods and services in society. We contribute to international acceptance and market access for Norwegian goods and services by accrediting both public and private entities. Entities seeking accreditation can apply for it through our organization. Accreditation is the official approval that services are performed in accordance with international standards. As an accredited entity, one demonstrates compliance with relevant standards and requirements, with confirmation from an independent third party. This helps businesses document that their services are delivered in line with applicable requirements within a specific field, thereby establishing trust in various goods and services in society. Accreditation can be applied to various areas, such as laboratories, inspection bodies, certification bodies, verification bodies, producers of comparative laboratory testing, biobanks, and producers of reference materials. We evaluate the competence, management systems, work methods, and quality of entities against international standards.
