Mission The mission of OIC of Rhode Island is to provide workforce training, employment, and minority business development services to the underutilized populations in the urban communities of Rhode Island for the purpose of providing hope and opportunity through effective collaboration and program development with the private and public sector. Company Overview OIC management is convinced that significant changes in the conceptualization of inner city issues and subsequent policy changes based on new concepts must be instituted within public policy and public and private programs developed to reduce inner city poverty and unemployment. We believe in implementing economic strategies that create a sustainable business base in the inner city and connecting that business base to the larger metropolitan area--which effectively increases profitability and supports inner city business expansion. Furthermore, we stand for the positive perception of the urban communities in the media. Given an atmosphere where job creation and income generation are moving forward in our inner cities, we truly believe that the celebrations of a progressing economic culture will show a positive and promising outlook for all to see. It's about equipping the underutilized population with the skills to create their own opportunities, and closing the gap between the socio-economic classes. With the success of this desperately needed work, we strongly believe this strategy will ignite the spark to foster the crucial change needed in the overall economy of our state, and thus across the country.
