Oil Mountain Energy operates the Oil Mountain Fields outside of Casper Wyoming - The location of the first commercial oil sales in Wyoming. In 1863, settlers traveling west along the California, Oregon, and Mormon trails left the Platte river at Fort Caspar. They passed Oil Mountain, where Kit Carson had established a business mixing oil from seeps with flour, and selling it to settlers as axle grease. From that start, Oil Mountain has supplied America's needs, first with axle grease to explore and expand westward, then later with fuel for America's Navy in WW2, and now supplying both Energy and Infrastructure demands in the form of Asphalt to maintain America's roads and infrastructure, and high-grade coke bars to make the steel and aluminum that bring America into a greener, more productive 21st century
