About Partnerships for Local Action and Community Empowerment (PLACE)
Partnerships for Local Action and Community Empowerment (PLACE) is a national organisation that supports the adoption and impact of place-based approaches in local communities across Australia. Our vision is for communities to share decision-making with governments on the issues that matter most to them. We are an independent not-for-profit organisation deeply committed to community leadership and accountability in its governance and operations. PLACE will initially focus on place-based efforts in four priority areas: entrenched socio-economic barriers, early years, employment support and Australia’s transition to net zero. Each priority area will include a dedicated First Nations focus. PLACE was developed through a comprehensive consultation process that identified key supports the place-based sector needed to grow and flourish. We will start engaging with communities, practitioners and existing place-based initiatives in early 2025.
