About Patra Selections

Patra is an independent family-run business based in North London . Experts in silk and natural fabrics, we produce a wide range of clothing and underwear items, all designed in-house. Our company has a rich history, having been established over 50 years ago in 1964. Our founder, Mrs Urmila Patra, started the business by selling silk scarves from India at the local market. She then produced her own designs and with the help of Mr Patra they sold them to boutiques. The Observer newspaper promoted her designs and they immediately sold out. This was the start of a long and prosperous relationship between the newspaper and Patra. At one point Patra even held the exclusive licence for all silk from China to the UK as the volumes imported were so large. Later, the catalogue was developed and here we are today – still thriving. We have expanded our range tremendously, having introduced a variety of fabrics and new styles. However, our values have not changed. Natural fabrics, comfort and style is what Patra is all about. Our focus is to remain true to ourselves and our customers.
