About Princess Margaret Cancer Centre
The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is Canada’s largest integrated cancer research, teaching, and treatment centre, one of the top cancer research centres in the world and is one of the University Health Network’s six research institutes. We are home to many important original cancer research discoveries including the first identification of blood stem cells, cloning of the T-cell receptor and discovery of liquid biopsy biomarkers of aggressive prostate cancer. Every year, the Princess Margaret treats over 18,000 new patients with diverse backgrounds, addressing more than 200 types of cancer, including some of the rarest forms. Our extensive clinical capacity supports Canada’s largest and world-leading early-phase clinical trial programs and correlative studies, with over 20% of our patients participating in clinical trials. The Princess Margaret is uniquely situated in the heart of Toronto’s Discovery District, one of the world’s largest urban academic hubs, with nine teaching hospitals and over 30 specialized medical and science research centres. Our major academic partner is the University of Toronto, which is Canada’s top funded research university. We focus on an exceptional patient experience by ensuring patients, healthcare providers, and committed partners are confident in the care delivered and feel valued, engaged, and represented. We accelerate research discoveries beyond the cutting edge, create novel pathways to cure, and rapidly advance safer and more effective therapeutics. By focusing on the highest-impact solutions, we will usher in a new era of progress in cancer care and cancer research.
