About Project AGORA
Democracy is a pretty cool thing - Giving society the right to dictate how it organizes itself is a great thing that shouldn't be taken lightly, and governments have done well to ensure that administration maintains its integrity through dense bureaucratic structures. But it also happens to be a system facing enormous stress. Administrations run the risk of poor performance if decisions are made on low-quality data. Governments can be seen as inept if they respond awkwardly or late to certain events in the world. We are moving ever faster, as our systems and institutions continue to lag behind. AGORA aims to create a voluntary government-to-citizen feedback loops in the form of a "digital city infrastructure". By giving citizens the right to place complaints or ideas on a map of their city ward, it allows the citizenry to congregate discussion on singular forums (geolocated pin). AGORA should allow citizens to upvote & downvote the forums, and use that to create a live, prioritized feed of the local topics, issues, and discussion in the local area. Plans to leverage data are still in development. -- AGORA is a sort of pet project of mine (Ian) for 2019 - I wanted to create an easier way for citizens to participate in politics without it being once every "x" years, or alignment to any political party. A way for governments to use fresh data in their decisions, with the data received from willing citizens. Here goes nothing! - Ian Ko
