About PRSSA Long Beach
In 1968, 20 years after its own establishment, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) founded the Public Relations Student Society of America. The declared purpose of PRSSA is to cultivate a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional public relations practitioners. As of today, there are over 300 student chapters and over 10,000 individual active members of PRSSA across the country. Our chapter not only represents the Long Beach State branch, but we also aim to include other interested Long Beach students from surrounding schools. We are dedicated to the concept of bringing brands to life through the process of discovering your passion, honing your skills and working with a passionate and like-minded team to bring a collective vision to fruition. This professional student organization aims to foster the following: 1. Understanding of current theories and procedures of the profession. 2. Appreciation of the highest ethical ideals and principles. 3. Awareness of an appropriate professional attitude. 4. Appreciation of Associate Membership in PRSA and eventually accredited membership. GOAL We strive to open doors for young professionals seeking a career in the public relations and communications field by advocating great standards for public relations education, ethical principles and diversity in the profession. BENEFITS Members can obtain knowledge that can't be learned in a classroom and have hands-on PR experience that can be used for their professional portfolio.
