About Real History Talks
Real History Talks was founded to help bring the past to life. Having seen one tourist too many walking up the Royal Mile, clutching guide book and umbrella, puzzling to make sense of where everything fits in and how it came to be, experienced Festival Guide and published historian, Eric Melvin, pledged to write an audio tour that could make sense of it all. The tour, that helps bring Edinburgh's most famous streets to life, shows us that our ancestors experienced similar emotions and faced simlar challenges as us, though could probably out-do us on wizardry and body-snatching! Our tour will be available in English, Japanese, Mandarin, French and German, with other languages to follow. Already, Eric is penning an 'Edinburgh New Town' tour, and is casting an eye on other future tour destinations. We are very much a family-run organisation, with Eric Melvin working with his son John and nephew Richard to make RHT a 'social business'. We are proud to support the work of 'Mary's Meals' with a percentage of our profits.
