About Refugee Advice & Casework Service (RACS)
Refugee Advice & Casework Service (RACS) is a nonprofit providing essential legal support and advocacy to help people who have fled persecution find certainty and protection in Australia. Australia’s asylum process is confusing, complicated and prone to sudden policy changes. As a result, it’s almost impossible for people seeking asylum to successfully navigate the process alone, especially for those who carry trauma from the danger they have escaped and many often do not speak English as a first language. RACS is someone they can trust to guide them through the process and ensure they put forward the strongest case possible for protection in Australia. The legal help we provide to people seeking safety is trauma-informed and free of charge to those who need it most in their time of crisis. We are a not-for-profit organisation and rely on donations, volunteers and pro bono legal support to deliver our services to refugees, people seeking asylum, stateless individuals and those who have been displaced. RACS is proudly supported by the University of New South Wales. We are honoured to have the support of the Honourable Michael Kirby as our Patron. Our vision: Justice and dignity for refugees.
