We are here for the student who needs a smaller, more personalized environment in order to learn and grow. We are Sage Day. Sage Day is a safe, nurturing environment designed for students for whom the large public school is overwhelming. Typically, our students have been diagnosed as suffering from depression, school phobia, anxiety and other similar disorders. They are often described as being emotionally "fragile.” Achieving our mission goals requires a new approach to teaching and learning. At Sage Day we use a therapeutic approach to education to develop a meaningful understanding of each child and family. This helps us establish a partnership between school and family, so together we can guide our students to success. We consider family counseling so essential to success at Sage Day that we encourage and expect each family to participate in therapy. Our therapists are highly skilled professionals who are sensitive to the special needs of adolescents and their families. To stay attuned to student needs, our therapists also communicate daily with our teachers. In keeping with our efforts to enhance self-esteem, we strive to provide the safest possible environment for learning and self-expression. We have learned that a student who feels safe is more likely to take the risk of trying something new.
