About San Diego Suzuki Institute
The San Diego Suzuki Institute strives to provide an opportunity for students to deepen their skills, guided by internationally acclaimed faculty in a supportive and motivational environment. The faculty of SDSI believe that musical creativity comes in many forms and that well-rounded musicians are exposed to a variety of musical avenues. At the San Diego Suzuki Institute (SDSI), we strive to create a joyful learning environment in which young musicians are empowered to thrive and grow, not only in the mastery of their instrument, but in all endeavors. Using the internationally recognized Suzuki Method of music education, our acclaimed faculty work with young people of all experience levels to deepen their fundamental skills, while also fostering self-esteem, creativity, and a life-long love of learning. Our annual summer Institute provides an immersive educational experience for children and youth ages 2 through 17 years who are students of violin, viola, cello, and piano. Program tracks for the week-long camp are customizable based on skill and interest, and include exposure to multiple musical genres. Through a blend of individual and group classes, participants build their skills around technique, musicianship, music theory, sight-reading, improvisation, and more. Opportunities to interact with other young musicians, learn from peers and new teachers, and *have fun* are also essential to the Institute experience! We work with each student to ensure they are able to build upon their newly acquired skills as they return to their home schools, orchestras, and/or individual instruction. Our program is designed specifically for participants already familiar with the Suzuki repertoire.
