For 50 years, we've been designing spaces and structures to cultivate business, culture, discovery and education. SDG Associates (SDG) is a comprehensive and diverse architectural, planning and program management firm headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. Formerly known as Sims-Varner & Associates, we have led the project teams for and designed some of the most recognizable structures in the city, including the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, Millender Center, the Redford Branch of the Detroit Public Library, the UAW-GM Center for Human Resources, and the 1989 expansion and current renovations to Cobo Center, the region’s premier conference and exhibition venue. Additionally, our broad portfolio of aviation work spans several states with projects at Detroit Metro Airport, George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta, and other airports. SDG provides services for a variety of markets such as civic, cultural, K-12 and higher education, infrastructure and transportation, corporate facilities, parking structures, and federal inspection facilities. We are well-known for our high level of client service, and have been recognized for the exceptional quality of work and social impact of our projects, earning awards from the American Institute of Architects, the American Associate of School Administrators, and the American Society of Civil Engineers, among others.
