Shalom Bayit Bakery is a one-woman micro-bakery bringing handmade challah to New York City. Based on the Upper West Side and now expanding to Midtown and the West Village, we bake small-batch loaves that are as fluffy, eggy, and nostalgic as the ones you grew up with—or wish you had. Our name, Shalom Bayit, translates to “peace in the home.” That’s the spirit we try to braid into every loaf: warmth, comfort, and the joy of gathering. Whether for Shabbat, holidays, or just because, our challah is meant to be shared at the table and remembered long after. We’re guided by a few core principles: Craft: Every loaf is made by hand, with attention to detail and time-honored techniques. Community: We’re rooted locally and growing intentionally, serving neighbors, friends, and families across the city. Simplicity: No gimmicks—just a few classic savory toppings and a focus on the quality of the bread itself. Since launching in July 2025, Shalom Bayit has grown through word of mouth, social media, and partnerships with community groups. Our customers are united by a love of great bread and meaningful tradition.
