Shrewsbury Street Pastors: a group of volunteers who provide support for anyone who is vulnerable. Our role includes: ➡️ Referring individuals with mental health issues to organisations like The Samaritans and the Sanctuary. ➡️ Monitoring street sleepers, liaising The Shrewsbury Ark Day Centre if necessary ➡️ Using our support vehicle, The Donkey, as a safe place ➡️ Keeping people safe from the potential danger of the River Severn ➡️ Providing much-needed items like water, flip flops, blankets and sick bags ➡️ Cleaning wounds, supplying plasters, calling an ambulance, and many other first-aid related tasks ➡️ Working in partnership with local organisations such as the police and council ➡️ Training in suicide prevention, first aid, drugs and alcohol, mental health first aid, and much more. Our volunteers are non-judgemental in their approach to everyone, helping whether it’s a plaster, a listening ear, a prayer or life-saving first aid which is needed 💖
