The SOS future mothers movement was founded in 1974, when a Fribourg association was created, at the initiative of Mr. Conrad Clément in Ependes. SOS future mothers was born of the conviction that to protect and support the nascent life, it takes a concrete commitment. A commitment to the service of mothers, consisting of effective assistance. Many mothers who are expecting a child face considerable difficulties: - Reaction or attitude of the entourage: dad, respective families, school or professional environment, not to mention the surrounding culture, - but also often material difficulties such as lack of financial resources, lack of adequate housing, or the financial consequences of losing a job. In any case, whatever the reasons that lead a mother to go through the doors of the association, SOS future mothers make every effort to allow her to welcome and raise her child with dignity. SOS future mothers welcome all mothers or future mothers in difficulty (and also some dads), without distinction of origin, confession or family situation. Then remain present, as long as the mother feels the need. Regarding the assistance provided, we can mention the listening, attentive and benevolent, moral support, material assistance (probably the most consistent), administrative support, as well as legal and even medical guidance, or, depending on the situation, economic aid. Financial support on our part, to the extent necessary and in accordance with the principle of subsidiarity, provides the necessary bridge to the State and even Federal aids. All these services are free. Thanks to all these forms of support, a large number of mothers were able to make the choice they wanted more freely, that of welcoming their child with dignity.
