About South African Forestry Contractors Association - SAFCA
Since its foundation in 1989, the South African Forestry Contractors Association (SAFCA) has stood as a pillar in advocating for forestry excellence, sustainability, and industry advancement. Our roots run deep, with a firm commitment to representing and empowering forestry contractors nationwide. SAFCA plays a vital role in fostering sustainable practices, ensuring stringent safety standards, and driving overall industry recognition. Formed with 9 initial members in Kaapsehoop, Mpumalanga, SAFCA was envisioned as a platform for forestry contractors to come together, united by common concerns in legal, insurance, labor, and training and development aspects, while respecting healthy competition. Over the years, our range of services, from Legal Aid to Capacity Development and Training facilitation, have adapted to best serve our members. Retaining key services has been crucial as we continually support contractors in insurance, capacity development, forestry-technical advice, costing, and representation in various forums. As the voice of forestry contractors, SAFCA collaborates with industry organizations like Forestry South Africa and the Forest Sector Charter Council (FSCC). Participation in discussions on human resources, B-BBEE compliance, and codes of practice highlights our dedication to ensuring a sustainable and inclusive industry. Our presence in addressing industry-wide matters underscores the commitment to nurturing a dynamic future for forestry contractors in South Africa.
