Established in the year 1985 and ISO certified in the year 2001, SPS manufactures cost saving, innovative products for Steel Hot Rolling, Hot Forging, Heat Treatment industries. The innovation team at Steel Plant Specialities includes experienced metallurgical engineers from the well acclaimed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai. Products manufactured: 1. Anti scale protective coatings to prevent scaling & control decarburisation during hot rolling, hot forging & heat treatment. Prevent rejections, increase yield, reduce shot blasting 2. Refractory coatings to save fuel consumption & increase refractory lining life of billet re-heating, heat treatment furnaces 3. Hot forging die lubricants to increase die life. Graphiteless, water soluble lubricants to prevent pollution 4. Selective gas nitriding coating to prevent hardening of selective areas during nitriding. -Forging, casting dies & parts 5. Die spray systems for effective die lubrication & spray automation Noteworthy achievements: 1. Increased hot rolling yield, reduced bar peeling from 2 mm to 1mm. Decarburisation on hot rolled bars was controlled using ESPON coating 2. Rejections reduced substantially by controlling decarburisation & preventing scale pits on billets during hot rolling and hot forging 3. Zero scaling achieved during heat treatment and re-heat treatment of forgings 4. Shot blasting, grinding of hot rolled & hot forging products reduced by 50% in reputed hot rolling and hot forging units 5. Successfully developed protective coatings for titanium and alloy steels hot forging 6. 10% fuel saving and 70% increase in refractory lining life achieved in billet re-heating and heat treatment furnaces 7. Up to 80% increase in forging die life achieved through indigenously manufactured forging die lubricants 8. Zero pollution achieved due to switchover from oil based lubricant to SPS make water soluble graphiteless lubricant 9. Selective gas & plasma ion nitriding coatings for dies developed
