Sunwest Management, Inc. (SMI) was founded in 1991 with a portfolio of three properties: two retirement communities and one skilled nursing community. Currently, SMI manages approximately 200 communities nationwide. We believe in the principle that providing professional management services for senior housing communities meets a critical need for a nation’s population that is aging gracefully in increasing numbers. We recognize and honor the fact that our elders have spent a lifetime of achievement and are now seeking leisure. Our communities are designed to offer comfortable, home-like accommodations with an emphasis on a quality living experience. Even from humble beginnings, we have realized strong demand for our abilities. While SMI’s management services are consistently growing to meet demand, our communities have also expanded their offerings to now include retirement, assisted living, residential care and memory care. We demonstrate our commitment by investing in the communities that we manage. An additional advantage, of which we are very proud, is the ability to create more jobs for a growing nationwide employee base. Sunwest was founded in, and remains a vital member of the Salem, Oregon community. The home office employs approximately 300 individuals skilled in a broad range of business disciplines comprised of five core areas: accounting, legal, human resources, health care services, and marketing. Additional departments offer expertise in risk management, staffing compliance, national purchasing, and food service.
