About Susgen
Susgen is a London-based private investment firm focused on fighting climate change. We are a team of active investors who provide strategic and commercial support in addition to capital. Over the last decade, we have funded and partnered with utility-scale renewable energy project developers in the UK, USA, and EIRE to develop some of the most successful solar and battery energy storage project development platforms in these markets. We seek out small teams of first movers looking to pioneer new markets and help them achieve their goals by providing patient capital, strategic intelligence, and financial expertise. We are a hands-on, dynamic and flexible investor that considers our developers as partners. To date, we have helped five teams in three countries deliver significant portfolios from zero to an institutional investor standard: • 2012-2015: Seeded INRG, which developed 21 projects / 250MW UK solar, selling projects to various entities such as Apollo, Magnetar, Baywa, Belectric • 2016-2019: Seeded JBM Solar Ireland, which developed nine projects / 320MW solar in Ireland, with the whole portfolio sold at RTB to Statkraft • 2016-2021: Seeded Urban Grid Solar, which built a 9GW solar pipeline, including 2GW RTB, which we divested to Brookfield in 2021 • 2019-2023: Seeded JBM Solar UK, the UK’s largest solar developer at that time, which reached a 4GW grid-secured pipeline, which we then divested to RWE in 2023 • 2019-today: Seeded Alcemi, which now has a 4.2GW battery pipeline in the UK, with one 500MW 2hr in construction and 1GW 2hr taking FID in 2024, being built in partnership with CIP Susgen is the renewable energy investment arm of two-family offices with deep track records in global listed and private real estate. Our investment approach benefits from patient capital and significant transactional, capital market, debt structuring and fundraising experience.
