About The Bridge Cultural Exchange Academy

Bridge Cultural Exchange Academy (BCEA) was born at the University of Southern California. It is a student‑run, non‑partisan organisation that now includes chapters in Beijing, Los Angeles, and Geneva. BCEA empowers young people to become citizen diplomats and peace‑builders through exchanges, storytelling, and dialogue. We draw on Mark Gerzon’s concept of Global Intelligence (GQ)—the ability to navigate and influence an interconnected world with wisdom, empathy and effectiveness. Gerzon calls for raising our “global intelligence (mind) and planetary empathy (heart)” and emphasises the “Four Opens” approach: opening our eyes to global contexts, our ears to diverse voices, our hearts to compassion, and our hands to action. Since its founding, BCEA has engaged more than 3,000 participants from 25 countries and built a network of 40 experts and mentors. Through our work, we aim to cultivate a community of changemakers who see beyond borders and help build a more just and sustainable world.
