About The Dorman Group of Companies
The Dorman Group of Companies are part of a single family office that manages investments and various activities on behalf of the Dorman family. Most of the Group's activities are focused in and around the metals, specialty manufacturing and value added distribution/logistics. Investments and acquisitions are made in both private and public markets with companies and assets at every stage of the investment cycle from start up to mature operating companies. While several of our controlled operating companies are based in Michigan we have invested throughout the U.S. While often referred to as private equity investors, we are much different than what that phrase may bring to mind. In fact, with most of our companies we are comfortable holding and building them indefinitely. We prefer to be long term investors, patient, diligent, sometimes smart and hopefully lucky once in a while. We are comfortable working with like minded investors whether they are management teams and/or co-investors.
