About The Roots Project
We are a woodland based community group carrying out practical conservation and traditional forestry at Wonky Wood, part of Longbeach Wood near Ashford. Our aim is to improve the environment for wildlife, nature conservation, and recreation whilst engendering a sense of community. We promote and share traditional forest enterprise, practical conservation and nature-based craft skills through a range of practical tasks and skill sharing events. In 2016/17 we received funding and support from the Lloyds Bank StartUp programme to develop the Social Enterprise side of our group. This has led to us running outreach sessions in Kent and enabled us to extend our reach to engage with families and children on a more regular basis.
