About The YWCA of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County
Founded in 1920 to address the needs of women converging on Maryland’s State Capital, YWCA of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County has been a steadfast advocate for equality and empowerment for over a century. Our mission—both locally and nationally—is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Major priorities included voting rights, labor rights, housing, and other areas focused on equality. As an independent 501(c)(3) organization, we focus on local priorities through a dedicated Board of Directors and four core program areas: residential services, clinical support, legal advocacy, and community education. With an operating budget of $4.5M, assets exceeding $18M, and a team of 50, we provide life-changing services to nearly 10,000 Anne Arundel County residents annually impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, teen dating violence, or stalking. Our work spans five service sites, including the Weinberg Residence (a 32-bed domestic violence safe house), the Education & Wellness Center, our administrative office in Arnold, and district court locations in Glen Burnie and Annapolis. In 2024, we proudly opened Maryland’s only residential facility for trafficked youth in partnership with TurnAround, Inc. We offer a comprehensive range of services to survivors, including emergency shelter, permanent housing support, 24-hour hotlines, hospital accompaniment, licensed therapy, legal representation, case management, prevention education, and abuser intervention programs. At YWCA, we are committed to building a safer, more equitable community. Together, we can create lasting change. Follow us to join the movement, stay informed, and support our work to transform lives every day.
