About United Voices for Newcomer Rights

United Voices for Newcomer Rights (UVNR) is a community-led organization dedicated to advocating for resettlement policies that effectively support refugees, promoting their well-being and independence. Our Mission: We empower newcomers—refugees, immigrants, asylum-seekers, and others new to the United States—by cultivating educational, economic, cultural, social, and physical and mental health resources in partnership with them. Our goal is to foster system change that supports their well-being and integration into their new communities. We achieve this by: Promoting mutual learning to help newcomers and Americans understand each other, and to develop and support effective and just policies. Collaborating with organizations, government agencies, and individuals to realize our vision. Developing, implementing, adapting, evaluating, and disseminating programs that benefit newcomers, including the Refugee Well-being Project—an innovative model connecting newcomers with resources in the United States to promote mutual learning and improve mental health. Building the capacity and leadership skills of newcomers. Our Vision: We envision New Mexico as a leader in effective resettlement and immigration policies and programs. Our aim is to humanely support newcomers upon arrival, build on and learn from their strengths, and promote their well-being and civic engagement. Ultimately, we strive for a world where all individuals, families, and communities can reach their fullest potential.
