About Ushaw: Historic House, Chapels and Gardens
Ushaw is a venue for the Arts & Heritage a few miles from Durham City. Open for Tours; Live Music; Art Exhibitions; Family Activities; Accommodation; Food; Functions; Meetings & Conference. A gem of Victorian Gothic architecture in picturesque parkland. A former Catholic Seminary, with a history stretching back more than 200 years, and roots in colleges much older than that. A successor of the English College at Douai, Ushaw houses some of the most beautiful Pugin architecture, as well as St. Cuthbert's Chapel with its beautiful stained glass windows. Ushaw has since opened it's doors to the public, allowing anyone who wants to visit our wonderful chapels, enjoy the great food in our café, view our array of exhibitions & even stay in our Bed & Breakfast rooms. In 2014, Ushaw began a successful programme of events, with performances from some of the best talent the region has to offer, as well as those from further afield. Alongside this, as a successful conferencing centre we hire rooms to various organisations for their events needs, from presentations to performances. For more information, please visit our website.
