About UTS Criminology Society
The UTS Criminology Society (CrimSoc) is a faculty club that engages all types of students with a two-fold approach to professional and social development. Our goals involve the social cohesion of UTS and expanding the communal mindset to remain engaged and motivated to flourish with the support of CrimSoc. Creating a cohort that is close-knit and comfortable around each other can produce more inclusivity and a sense of belonging at UTS, allowing students to flourish academically, professionally and socially to produce a network of future professionals that endeavour once we leave the uni. Through this, we will expand the perspective of various criminological fields, including volunteering and internships, while at university, along with practical and research work prospects to motivate students to excel in their studies. We aim to further excel in this by connecting with allied societies, along with an increased initiative to have a range of social events, workshops and educational opportunities that cater to the needs and interests of all students. Through this, we will develop a passion for criminological ideas and issues, especially creating awareness within the facets of social, criminal and community justice; this involves the prison system and injustices towards inmates, victims and Indigenous individuals, and the protection of the community through the proper incarceration of individuals through a fair system. We aim to engage and inspire UTS students in the field of criminology through all aspects of justice and law, forensics, data analytics, cybersecurity and international studies. This broad perspective allows us to include students from diverse backgrounds and passions professionally and socially grow and develop. We will achieve this by producing an avenue via events and individual support that makes them aware of professional and social opportunities and a focus on well-being as we undertake the journey through our learning.
