About Water Walkers

WHO WE ARE Water Walkers is a youth tutoring and mentoring program based in Nashville, TN. We aim to build confidence, character, and community among children in the inner-city. By bringing children outside the limitations of the projects, and exposing them to the beauty of creation and the thrill of watersports, we hope to unlock a sense of wonder, ambition, and inspiration in their lives. WHAT WE DO If school’s out, surf’s up! With three boats, we are able to serve nearly 50 groms (little surfer dudes), teaching them to swim, dive, tube, wakeboard, and wakesurf during the summer. We also incorporate a social and emotional curriculum for our kids to help develop character and improve their conflict management skills. When school is in session, Water Walkers moves inland. We provide year-round tutoring, mentoring, and continued engagement in activities on the weekends such as trampoline parks, playing sports, and service projects. Our use of positive reinforcement, unique sports and adventure-based incentives, and nearly 1-to-1 attention keeps the kids engaged in learning and growing in confidence.
