About Wordplay Wisdom
Wordplay Wisdom is your comprehensive resource for enthusiastic young writers and the adults who support them. Wordplay Wisdom was created by the mother-and-daughter team of Stephanie and Madelyn. Madelyn is the first homeschooled National Student Poet, the nation’s highest honor for youth poets presenting original work. Her fiction is equally recognized; Madelyn was named a YoungArts Winner in Short Story, as well as one of only 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts in 2021. Madelyn is currently attending Princeton University, where she is studying creative writing, English, and anything else that strikes her fancy. Stephanie is a mother who unexpectedly began homeschooling her two children more than a decade ago. Since 2017, she has served as the main adult volunteer and editor for the Girl Scout of River Valleys Press Corps, a safe space for girls to develop their own voices. She has published academic, nonfiction, and magazine pieces, and was also named a finalist in the Writers League of Texas Manuscript Contest. Her professional experience includes decades of policy and grant writing. Stephanie holds a Bachelor in English literature, a Master in Public Administration, and a Juris Doctor. Their years of searching for high-quality writing materials and opportunities for enthusiastic writers led them to develop this space. Madelyn and Stephanie are deeply passionate about the power of words and the many ways that writing can empower young people. And now we want to help you!
